The Selection, Installation, and Operation of a Modern Chemical Based Technology for the DISSUB CO"2" Removal System in Royal Navy Submarines

چکیده
Having identified a deficiency in the Royal Navy's present DIStressed SUBmarine (DISSUB) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) removal system the Marine Environment Sustainability and Habitability (MESH) IPT has run a project to assess a number of candidate technologies for use as a replacement system. Three technologies were examined initially, and a competitive procurement activity has been completed. From this a CO2 removal system was selected for installation and operation in current and future classes of RN Submarines. This paper reports the results of this procurement activity.

Naval Surface Ship In-Service Information Exploitation
The Royal Navy operates a fleet of complex modern warships and submarines each comprising a system of systems often in harsh and potentially volatile environments. The maintenance of surface vessels is primarily undertaken by Babcock and BAe Systems in an alliance with the Ministry of Defence. The Ministry of Defence system engineering lifecycle is known as CADMID, this details the six phases o...
متن کاملDeveloping a multi-criteria decision support system based on fuzzy analytical hierarchical process (AHP) method for selection of appropriate high-strength wastewater treatment plant
The selection of optimum high strength wastewater treatment process is complicated. Be familiar with wastewater treatment methods is not enough to design a plant. In this research, five alternative wastewater treatment methods (upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) + membrane bioreactor (MBR), UASB + Extended aeration (EA), Anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR), anaerobic lagoon (ANL) + aerated lago...

The continuous improvement of EAF performance is crucial for the increase in productivity and cost effectiveness and to render an environmental friendly process. RHI supports these targets by providing a diverse range of refractory and process solutions. Chemical energy in practical operation by injection of gaseous media like oxygen and natural gas, and solid materials like carbon have become ...
متن کاملSorption Performance of Live and Heat-Inactivated Loofa-Immobilized Phanerochaete chrysosporium in Mercury Removal from Aqueous Solution
The sorption behavior of loofa-immobilized Phanerochaete chrysosporium mycelia in two forms, Live (L) and Heat-Inactivated (HIA), was studied for the removal of Hg2+ ions from aqueous solution. Using the Langmuir isotherm, the two key parameters for the sorption performance, qm and the coefficient b, were obtained; the qm ...
متن کاملSelection of Optimum Tunnel Support System Using Aggregated Ranking of SAW, TOPSIS and LA Methods
The selection of optimum support system is a key step in the successful design operation of tunneling, rock mass stabilization and minimization of plastic zone extension around a tunnel. In this context, it is not sufficient to rely only on the experiences of design engineers, but taking all effective measures and parameters is necessary to do a proper choice. In this paper, multi attribute dec...
